Ancient Body

Great body

with sacred memory
accuse my maternal shape.

Speak to me of all the wisdom you have created.

From knowing of how to fast and
understanding the feast.

Understanding my desire, to recognize the ancient DNA that has help my ancestors for centuries.

To speak of the cells that are generated in my body, each with a story, a history that continues,

that unfolds,

In the curvature of my back,

the paleness of my skin

and the thickness of my waist.

The fullness of my breasts,
The roundness of my belly,
the parts of me that say I am alive!

I have loved,
I have created.
I have given birth,
and been birthed.

I am forever part of the sacred circle of women.

I am mother, maiden, crone.

I speak with the lips of generations who have come before me.
I hear with the ears that have listened to the first trees.
I walk with the feet that have crossed tundras, mountains and ocean.

I feel with a heart, which was only a thought, a dream, a desire,
of my distant grandmothers..of who I was to be.

I am their destiny
And they are mine.

They slept with their backs to their earth, their bellies on sand and water.
They spoke to their mother,
in a whisper...
as she provided for her, protected her, and loved her.

"" Mama earth, help me heal. So that I maybe strong, for generations to come."."

The food they ate passed in their wombs.
The food they ate created flesh.
The food they ate provided milk.
The food they ate nourished us.

Our bodies know the land of which we came.
Our bodies know the land of which we were born.

Our bodies know the land of which our grandmothers feed.

And its here in me,

In the curvature of my back,

the paleness of my skin

and the thickness of my waist.

The fullness of my breasts,
The roundness of my belly,
the parts of me that say I am alive!

I am mother.
I am grandmother.
I am child.
I am crone.

I am the earth.
I am the sun.
I am the wind.
I am the water.

I am Mother.
